Sushi
Sushi is one of those strange foods that doesn't taste like anything else. If you have a craving for it you HAVE TO HAVE SUSHI, nothing else will satisfy you. When we were living in a small town there was no sushi restaurant so I learned to make it out of necessity. I stick to vegetarian or fish that has been smoked or cooked to avoid any risk of making myself or my guests sick. Besides, actual sushi grade fish is difficult to find and when it stops being easy you may as well just eat out. Don't feel confined by the ingredients listed here. Go crazy adding all your favourite sushi ingredients.
Cook the rice in your rice cooker (or if you have the skills make it on the stove. I can cook almost everything with relative ease and success except rice - it totally baffles me). In a small bowl whisk together the rice wine vinegar and sugar until it is dissolved. Mix into the cooled rice to form sticky rice. Lay out a sheet of nori and spread a thin layer of sticky rice over it leaving about 1 inch free at both ends. Spread veggies and/or fish in a line along one end. Tightly roll up the sushi roll. When you reach the end spread a small amount of water along the nori to form a seal. Repeat until you run out of rice. Wrap the rolls in cling wrap and store in the fridge until ready to slice and serve Just think how jealous your coworkers are going to be when you start bringing in homemade sushi for lunch on a regular basis! ***Tuna is the perfect option for families that have sushi haters. Prepare your tuna as you would for tuna sandwiches. Use some to make your sushi and let the rest of the family enjoy it on bread as usual. Everyone is happy, it was easy and it was cheap!
