Spaghetti Bolognase

Pasta - my favourite. A delicious easy meal in a pinch. This is a favourite when I am working nights and don't have time to make something complicated for dinner. It's so satisfying and the cooked tomatoes are so good for you.

  • 1 can whole tomatoes
  • 500 g ground beef
  • garlic powder
  • mushrooms
  • oregano
  • salt and pepper
  • parmesan
  • spaghetti

Brown the ground beef in a non stick frying pan until there is no pink left. While it is browning, lightly sprinkle the surface with garlic powder. (Real garlic works well but as I said, on work nights I don't want garlic fingers).

While the beef is browning remove the tomotoes from the can and chop coaresly. Save the juice. When the beef is browned completly drain the fat and add the tomatoes and juice. Slice the mushrooms and add to the sauce. Sprinkle the entire surface with oregano. Season with a hefty amount of salt and add pepper to taste. Sprinkle the entire surface with parmesan and stir until melted in. Allow to simmer until the tomatoes have broken down and sauce is thick and fully reduced.

Once the sauce is ready and seasoned to your liking add spaghetti to salted boiling water. Make sure the sauce is complete! The sauce can wait for the pasta but the pasta cannot wait for the sauce!

Serve sauce over a pile of spaghetti and topped with parmesan.
