Chocolate Pretzels

I make these at Xmas because they pack perfectly into gift boxes of yummy treats. They can be frozen for up to a week until needed. I love the combination of salty and sweet.

  • 1 bag Pretzels (if you can find cigar shaped pretzels they are best)
  • 1 bag good quality chocolate chips (or any chocolate suitable for melting)
  • 1 bag white chocolate chips (or any white chocolate suitable for melting)
  • 3 Skor bars

Melt the white and chocolate chips in separate double boilers. I don't own an official double boiler so I just set glass bowls over saucepans with gently simmering water. Melt the chocolate being VERY careful not to let any water or steam get in the bowl (it will cause the chocolate to seize).

While the chocolate is melting crush your Skor bars. I find the easiest way is to crush them into dime sized bits with my fingers and then chop them on a cutting board with a chef's knife. Place in a small bowl to the side.

Dip the pretzels in the white or dark chocolate leaving the corner you are holding uncovered. Place on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. After you have made 8-10 dipped pretzels sprinkle the Skor bits generously over the top. (If you found the cigar pretzels you can roll them in the Skor bits.) After you have made a tray place them in the fridge for approx 10 minutes to harden.

Remove from wax paper, shake off loose or excess Skor bits (these can be reused with your next batch)

Give to someone you love.
